Toronto's heart is about to beat a lot faster.

Microsoft Canada will pump $570 million into it, along with 500 student jobs in the short-term and 60,000 jobs in the long-term.

Microsoft's move will place its head office in the heart of downtown Toronto.

The tech-giant says this not only makes sense for its growing workforce, but it also moves the company closer to the customers it serves — and a  tremendous talent pool that Toronto attracts.

The new Microsoft Canada HQ will be a massive 132,000 square-foot space that takes over four floors of CIBC Square.

Design plans for the space will follow a modern, holistic approach to help connect employees with each other, the environment, and amenities in order to make for a more productive and vibrant workplace.

But it's more than just designing a productive workspace; it's about enriching Toronto and its landscape.
