Microsoft Is Moving To The Heart Of Downtown Toronto — And Will Be Hiring
Toronto’s heart is about to beat a lot faster.
Microsoft Canada will pump $570 million into it, along with 500 student jobs in the short-term and 60,000 jobs in the long-term.
Microsoft’s move will place its head office in the heart of downtown Toronto.
The tech-giant says this not only makes sense for its growing workforce, but it also moves the company closer to the customers it serves — and a tremendous talent pool that Toronto attracts.
Today we announced that Microsoft Canada’s headquarters will be moving to a state-of-the-art facility in the heart of downtown Toronto in Fall 2020. We’re excited to be a committed leader in the development of Canada’s technological ecosystem. https://t.co/mFOHzOCD1l pic.twitter.com/zOdYgYQ9jy

The new Microsoft Canada HQ will be a massive 132,000 square-foot space that takes over four floors of CIBC Square.
Design plans for the space will follow a modern, holistic approach to help connect employees with each other, the environment, and amenities in order to make for a more productive and vibrant workplace.
But it’s more than just designing a productive workspace; it’s about enriching Toronto and its landscape.
“I’m proud that we’re doing our part to help retain our country’s best and brightest while making Canada the destination of choice for top minds and talent from around the world,” says Kevin Peesker, president of Microsoft Canada.
“I am certain our children will appreciate our collective efforts.”
