Temperatures are rising, the snowbanks are receding, and real estate sales are on the uptick. Could this be the start of the long-awaited spring market?
Buyers looking for detached houses have been re-entering the marketplace in droves, with a total of 83 changing hands over the last week, marking a 54 per cent increase from February and 24 per cent above activity during the same period last year.
A very strong short-term surge was also recorded for Toronto townhouses; with 25 sold. Activity is up a whopping 178 per cent month-over-month, and 47 per cent from 2018. Condos also experienced a large increase, with 131 units sold. That’s 90 per cent above February levels, though still -29 per cent below last year’s sales. Semi-detached houses, however, had a softer week, with only 12 homes sold, down -40 per cent month-over-month and year-over-year, respectively.
