Geoff Smith will step down from his role as President and CEO of EllisDon in June, the company announced Wednesday.
Smith, the Board of Directors, and Board Chair Gerald Slemko have appointed Kieran Hawe, EllisDon's current Chief Operating Officer, Construction, to assume the role of CEO.
“Since Kieran joined the company, and more so in his current role, he has exhibited an ideal combination of humility, determination, and leadership both through example and direction, all of which have combined to position EllisDon as a leading construction services company across the globe,” Smith said in a release.
“As importantly, he thoroughly personifies EllisDon's values and purpose, making him a natural fit to lead the next generation of EllisDon employees. I am both proud and excited for Kieran to assume the role of CEO.”
Since 1951, EllisDon has been helping shape the Canadian real estate landscape, weaving sustainability, innovation, and patent-pending materials into their building practices. The company is known for providing "cradle-to-grave" services, which include areas like IT, facilities management, maintenance, and more, and the company recently branched into the development sector.
“I am both honoured and excited to accept the role as EllisDon's next CEO and lead our exceptional employees and incredible leadership team," said Hawe. "I am committed to continue EllisDon's position as an industry leader in delivering the future of construction through our expansive array of service offerings and Cradle to Grave approach.”

Smith, who joined EllisDon in 1981, and was named President in 1996, will retain responsibility for EllisDon's Digital and Data strategy and execution, as well as the company's Windjammer Landing Resort in Saint Lucia. He will continue serving on the Board of Directors as Executive Chair, while Slemko will assume the role of Deputy Chair.
