This St. Patrick's Day, the TTC wants to make sure Toronto residents get to and from their festive celebrations safely by offering free rides on select streetcar routes.

On Tuesday, March 17, from 7 pm to 2:30 am, riders can enjoy free rides on the  501 Queen and 504 King routes courtesy of the TTC and Jameson Whiskey.

The TTC says riders won't need to tap their PRESTO cards on the select routes and card readers and fare machines will be covered with signs as a reminder.

Customers connecting to the subway or another route from the 501 or 504 must remember to pay their fare when entering or boarding at their transfer point and ensure they take a paper transfer from the Fares and Transfers Machine on the streetcar or from the transfer machine in the subway station.

And considering there's typically surge pricing on Uber during major party nights, this is likely the most affordable way to get around the city.

So remember, whatever you get up to on the 17th, just know that you have a safe ride home.
