If you're going to move to the Ontario countryside, what better way to do it than with an authentically vintage 1930s family retreat?

Well, luckily for anyone on the hunt, a truly enviable property with one on it just hit the market.

Located at 15130 Weston Road in King, Ontario, the four-bedroom abode may be just 45 minutes from downtown Toronto's conveniences, but it feels like a world away.

The charming home sits on a sprawling 50-acre property of open meadows, rolling fields and mixed woodland, meaning beautiful pastoral vistas are at every turn.

There are even long, winding paths carved throughout the property to stroll along and take in the trees, streams, and wildlife.

On the acreage you'll also find a rustic log shed, an adorable birdhouse, and, maybe most important of all, an in-ground pool. The front of the home has a natural log post porch where you can pull up a rocking chair and have perhaps the most peaceful of morning coffees. As the listing notes, on this property, "the world seems to slow down."

Stepping inside, you immediately feel transported to another era. The great room looks like it could easily be the set of a Western with its authentic rafter ceilings, wagon wheel chandelier, and wood-panelled walls. And the wood panelling doesn't stop there -- it continues throughout every room in the house, giving the entire place a cozy cabin feel. Even the bathroom, including the shower, is wood panelled.

The kitchen is a strong contender in the tight race for "Most Charming Room in the House." Its wooden countertops, natural wood beams, and abundance of windows that let sunlight stream in are just the tip of the iceberg. There's also an antique stove (in addition to a more modern one), a pantry, and a servery, making it one very attractive food hub.

Our Favourite Thing

The number of features in this house that will make you stop and stare is seemingly endless, but the one that's captured our attention the most is the absolutely stunning stone fireplace in the great room. It reaches all the way up to the lofted ceiling, with its large grey and brown stones popping against the wood-panelled walls and towering over the room in the best way possible. Its dark beam mantle is also the perfect spot to display family heirlooms or photos.

The house is filled with beautiful built-in shelves and cabinets, and each of the bedrooms has plenty of closet space, so storage isn't an issue here. There's also a tucked-away loft space that could easily be converted into an additional bedroom or studio.

The current owners have held onto the property for eighty years, and have made a lifetime of memories there hosting everything from tea parties to dances. Whoever is lucky enough to pick this property up will not only be getting a little piece of the past, but a chance to make their own special memories too.
