Shared coworking powerhouse, WeWork, continues to expand its Canadian footprint with the opening of its largest Toronto location.
Tucked inside one of Canada’s oldest and most iconic brands, Hudson’s Bay, the new WeWork location on Queen Street now open, welcoming a new wave of entrepreneurs, startups, and large businesses to the heart of the city.
Through a “unique management agreement,” WeWork partnered with Hudson’s Bay to combine workspace with retail inside the historic building, with new workspace being visible from inside the upper retail floors occupied by the Canadian retailer.
More than just a workspace, the building’s expansive floor plans allow for a range of unique amenities and environments — most notably, a dedicated Town Hall or large, flexible event space overlooking Toronto City Hall designed to bring the outside community together in our space for engaging events, casual meet-and-greets, and more.
Spanning the buildings 6th and 7th floors, in addition to the dedicated workspace, the new location features unique amenities like:
- The Hub: a central greeting and gathering spot.
- The Cafe: a food and beverage space stocked with local vendors including Station Cold Brew and Imperial Coffee, where members can easily connect and interact. The Cafe is integrated with stacked bleachers that can cater to larger events.
- The Town Hall: a large, flexible event space that overlooks Toronto City Hall, the Townhall is designed to bring the outside community together in our space for engaging events.
- The Library: a quiet area with bookshelves and soft seating, the Library aims to provide members with a workspace solution that allows them to focus or relax in a more intimate setting.
While the brand’s latest co-working space opened in November, the brand says it already welcomed nearly 2000 members across industries including logistics, software, education, hospitality, law, wellness, and more to the new Queen Street location
“We are thrilled to celebrate the launch of WeWork Hudson’s Bay on Queen Street, which has welcomed over 1,600 members into our community to date,” said Stephen Tapp, General Manager, Canada, WeWork.
“Through our partnership with Hudson’s Bay Company, we’ve reimagined an iconic landmark in the heart of Toronto, reinforcing our long-term commitment to making lasting economic and cultural impact on the city.”
WeWork opened its first Toronto building in August 2017 at 240 Richmond Street, and has since grown its footprint to 10 buildings throughout the city.
