May continues to be a chillier month than April for home sales in Toronto, though demand has started to pick up this week closing the gap between this year’s sales and last year’s activity. Detached houses saw the greatest year-over-year improvement with 136 sales, up 64 per cent from the same week in 2018, though still -7 per cent below April levels. Semi-detached houses, however, fell flat with 31 transactions, a 0 per cent change from last month, and down -3 per cent year-over-year
Activity in the multi-family housing segment also dipped in the short term. Both townhouses and condos for sale in Toronto saw a -17 per cent decrease with 20 and 156 sales, respectively. From an annual perspective, though, sales are roughly unchanged, at 0 per cent and -1 per cent.
