As Toronto remains under a heat warning, the City has extended the operating hours for a number of public pools located throughout Toronto.
On Friday, July 3, temperatures are expected to soar into the high thirties, while humidex values will near the low forties, and to help residents beat the heat, seven public pools will have extended hours.
According to the City, the following pools will be open until 11:45 pm:
- Alex Duff Memorial
- Earlscourt Park/Giovanni Caboto
- Monarch Park
- Parkway Forest
- Smithfield Park
- Sunnyside Park/Gus Ryder
Heron Park will also have extended hours this evening, though it will only be open until 9 pm. The City says pool capacity has also been reduced to 25% to allow for physical distancing.

While only seven pools have extended hours this Friday, Toronto is still home to over 50 additional outdoor pools, which will be open during regular hours. There are a few pools that remain closed, as they remain under construction, including Donald D. Summerville, Alexandra Park, and Kiwanis.
Residents can also cool off at the City’s 10 lifeguard supervised swimming beaches that are currently open. You can find a full list of supervised beaches here.
