Following Christopher Alexander's resignation as President of RE/MAX Canada in early March, it was announced today that President and CEO of Sotheby's International Canada Don Kottick, who announced his own resignation from SIRC just last week, will be taking on the role come April 28.

Kottick will be taking over from Erik Carlson, CEO of parent company RE/MAX Holdings, who has been overseeing operations in the interim.

“We are thrilled to welcome Don as the new President of RE/MAX Canada,” said Carlson in a press release. “His experience, strategic vision and proven success in growing major real estate brands will be invaluable as we continue to lead the way in Canadian market share. RE/MAX agents sell more real estate than any other Canadian brand, and Don coming on board to lead RE/MAX Canada will only build on that momentum and track record of success.”

An industry vet, Kottick has been in the Canadian real estate scene for over 30 years, holding various roles including Executive Vice President of Corporate Development at Peerage Realty Partners, President of Right At Home Realty, and senior leadership positions at Royal LePage.

In his most recent position as President and CEO of Sotheby's Canada, Kottick demonstrated his savvy leadership and business skills, "doubling [Sotheby's Canada's] agent count, and seeing sales volume and market share rise to record levels," reads the release.

Kottick has also provided his expertise while sitting on boards at the Real Estate Institute of Canada (REIC), the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) and the Toronto Regional Real Estate Board (TRREB).

For RE/MAX, an increased focus on innovation and technology to improve services and operations will be key moving forward — something Kottick says he's committed to.

“Erik’s vision and strong commitment to pushing boundaries and evolving to meet the changing demands of the market is something I deeply believe in and wanted to be a part of,” says Kottick in the release. “I am excited to join this exceptional team and contribute to the next chapter of growth, increased agent productivity, andd innovation for RE/MAX Canada. I look forward to working alongside the talented RE/MAX affiliates across the country to capitalize on what the brand is doing to modernize and forge ahead so that buyers, sellers and consumers continue to think of RE/MAX first.”
