To celebrate the first summer since marijuana legalization, Toronto is getting its very own, completely legal, cannabis patio.
In collaboration with Kensington Market's HotBox Cafe, The Toronto Craft Beer Festival will feature a patio where visitors can enjoy a beer and some bud.

“We want to offer people a place to come down from the beer. You don’t have to consume cannabis to experience our creative, chill and vibrant POTio,” HotBox Cafe owner, Abi Roach, said in a press release. "We want to educate people on what cannabis is and how to consume it safely, especially around alcohol."
The festival, which is attended by more than 10,000 people across North America, runs from June 21-23 at Ontario Place.

"We are thrilled to be a part of this collaboration and are looking forward in working with Hotbox Cafe and the Craft Beer festival to bring this space to life!" said Imraan Kahn, founder of Detonate Group and owner/operator of Detonate Cannabis Agency. "As long-time advocates in the cannabis space, we understand the importance of education, experience, and most importantly, safe consumption."

Roach, who's hosted many cannabis pop-ups across the GTA over the past 20 years, adds, "What makes this one really special — other than our partners — is that it's now on a provincial level, meaning the government is finally ready to listen to what Canadians actually want."
Bill C-45, also known as the Cannabis Act came into effect on Oct. 17, 2018. Though recreational cannabis consumption is legal across the country, the rules for consumption vary by province.
In Ontario, you must be 19 years old to purchase, possess or cultivate cannabis.
