I regret to inform you that the average rent in Toronto has reached a whopping $2,500. Finding an affordable place to live in this city is no easy feat. But you might be happy to hear that homes half this price do actually exist.

We’ve teamed up with Zoocasa to bring you the cheapest rentals across the City of Toronto. From Nov. 15 to Dec. 15, the most affordable units were in East York, Scarborough, The Beaches, Midtown and Roncesvalles Village.

In the heart of The Beaches neighbourhood, this steal is so close to the water, you can almost taste it! Also nearby are great restaurants, bars, parks and shopping on Queen St. E. The TTC is also within reach, making the commute downtown a breeze.

8. B1 - 1122B Avenue Rd. Scarborough — $1,195
