Now that February is underway, it means the annual day of love will soon be here. And in the lead up to Valentine's Day, Amazon Canada has revealed its list of the most romantic cities in the country and not surprisingly, our fine city has made it into the top five.

This year, Canada's largest city has claimed the second spot on the annual list, marking the first time Toronto has made the top 20 list since the rankings launched 11 years ago.

For the last seven years, Victoria held the number one spot, but this year, Fort McMurray climbed to the top spot from its previous third rank standing, showing that things are really heating up in some of the coldest parts of Canada.

According to Amazon Canada, the annual rankings were compiled by comparing sales data from January 1, 2019, to January 1, 2020, on a per capita basis in cities with more than 20,000 residents.

The data looks at purchases of romance novels (both print and Kindle editions), romantic comedies, relationship books, jewellery, and sexual wellness products. All of which could easily be used to define loneliness as well, but we prefer to look on the romantic side of things...
