A quick search for Airbnbs in Toronto prove there’s no shortage of stellar properties available for rent. But one particular listing caught the eyes of Torontonians for its bizarre description and oddly barren photos.
The basement rental in question, which has its own private entrance, is advertised as a “cozy apartment” conveniently located in the King and Dufferin area. The Airbnb consists of two bedrooms and a living room. And, for just $80/night, itcan sleep four people.

Doesn’t sound too bad, right? It's just the description doesn’t quite seem to match the apartment’s photos, which were shared on Twitter last week.

“It has a private washroom and kitchen ... It's [a] nice and clean apartment. Utensils are provided,” the description reads. “It's a bright apartment with a leather bed provided.”

“It has a high ceiling. Comfortable setting,” it continues. “The kitchen is fully equipped with fridge, stove, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, kettle, and full compliment (sic) of dishes, pots, pans, and utensils.”

Guests also have access to wifi, any books or games found in the living room, and two TVs, the listing notes.
On Twitter, people couldn’t believe this was a legitimate Airbnb rental.
The apartment has zero reviews, so it’s unclear whether or not it's ever had any takers. On Twitter, people agreed that the unit didn’t look all that welcoming.
Airbnb has had issues with fake hosts and listings in the past, despite using various methods to verify hosts.
“Airbnb is a global community built on trust, and our community’s safety is our priority,” a spokesperson for the site told Business Insider last year. “We take a number of steps in advance to help protect our community to better know that our users are in fact who they say they are.”
Considering the lack of reviews and Airbnb’s verification protocol, it’s hard to tell whether or not this is a serious listing. But in today’s rental market, we wouldn't be surprised if this was legit.
