Canadian Alex Trebek continues to be the unsung hero the world needs right now.
It turns out the beloved Jeopardy! host, who is currently battling stage 4 pancreatic cancer, is an even bigger saint than we thought after he recently donated $100,000 to the Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission, a nonprofit that works to prevent, reduce, and eliminate poverty, hunger, and homelessness in LA, amidst his own personal health struggles.

In turn, the shelter thanked the 79-year-old from Sudbury, ON, by naming a wing of the facility after him.
As reported by TMZ, Trebek has been an avid donor to the organization over the years and presented the shelter's owner, Ken Craft, with the generous donation after touring the mission’s new North Hollywood shelter.
Craft later told TMZ that Trebek also invited he and his wife to a Jeopardy! taping and invited the pair onstage during a commercial break. Trebek reportedly told the audience, “I don’t normally do this, but I wanted to bring these two people onstage because they are making a difference in L.A.”
This news comes as Trebek shared an honest and inspiring video about his cancer fight one year after he was diagnosed. In the emotional video, Trebek noted that he's beaten the one-year survival rate for stage 4 pancreatic cancer patients, which is just 18%.
"There were moments of great pain," he said. "Moments when certain bodily functions no longer functioned and some massive attacks of great depression that made me wonder if it was really worth fighting on."
"If we take it just one day at a time, with a positive attitude, anything is possible," said Trebek in the touching message.
He closed by noting the two-year survival rate for his cancer is 7 percent, but both he and his doctor are confident he will give another update a year from today.
