The back-to-school market has officially come to a close, as activity for homes for sale in Toronto falls along with the autumn leaves.
Only detached houses posted gains from September this week, with 19 per cent more homes changing hands; all other home types experienced double-digit declines with semi-detached down 23 per cent, townhouses falling 29 per cent, and condos down by 20 per cent.
However, compared to the 2017 slump, it’s proving to be a much stronger year for lower rise housing, with both detached and semi-detached home sales up 45 and 80 per cents, respectively, year over year, as townhouse and condo activity fell six and five per cents.
