To make matters worse, the closures will continue into next week with early nighttime closures affecting the same area.

Next week also marks the start of the TTC's increased fares. As of April 1, adult token and PRESTO fares will increase by 10 cents to $3.10. Youth and Senior fares will also go up by 10 cents to $2.15 for tokens and PRESTO, and to $2.20 for cash. Fair Pass prices are also impacted by the hike with a five cent increase for a total of $2.05 per ride.
Here’s what you need to know about this weekend’s subway closure:
What’s Closed
There will be no subway service on Line 1 between St. Clair and Union stations on Saturday and Sunday due to the installation of the ATC signalling system. That covers Dupont, Spadina, Bay, Museum, Queen’s Park, St. Patrick, Osgoode and St. Andrew terminals.
How To Navigate The Closure
Shuttle buses will operate along the normal subway route on University Ave. Buses will stop at all the regular subway station stops, just outside the typical zone. The east side of Line 1 will also be fully operational, so you can travel north and south along Yonge St. as an alternative.
How To Pay
If you’re paying with PRESTO during the subway closure just tap your card when you first board the TTC.
If you are transferring from the subway to a shuttle bus or from a shuttle bus to the subway, don’t tap your PRESTO card again. Unlike normal subway to bus transfers, shuttle buses do not need a second tap.
Cash and token fares will still be accepted on the shuttle bus, which will get you a transfer onto the subway (and vice versa).
Normal service will resume on Monday.
