July may have had a soggy start, but it’s ending on a bang, with sales of all home types posting decent year-over-year gains this week, with the exception of Toronto condos.
The pace of improvement from last year has also picked up, especially for detached houses, which saw 34 per cent more homes change hands this week than at the same time last year.
This marks the fourth week in a row of improvement and a considerable turnaround from a -10-per-cent slump recorded at the beginning of the month.
Condo townhouses and semi-detached homes also had a strong week, up 29 and 18 per cent, respectively.
Condo apartment sales, however, continue to slow into the summer season, down -5 per cent year over year.
Overall, this week’s performance points to sustained and steady recovery from housing policies introduced last year, with demand on the rise for single-family and low-rise homes.
