Canadian Real Estate Developer Considering Bid For NFL's Washington Commanders

A Canadian real estate developer is allegedly considering a bid for the NFL's Washington Commanders.

Citing league sources, ESPN's Adam Schefter and Brian Windhorst report that Steve Apostolopoulos, Managing Partner of Toronto-based real estate firm Triple Group of Companies (TCG), recently toured the Commanders' stadium and training facility.

Apostolopoulos is also the Co-Founder and Chief Development Officer of Triple Properties, a private real estate investment, development, and leasing entity. Schefter and Windhorst say he was previously in talks to buy the NBA's Charlotte Hornets from Michael Jordan.

Steve's late father, Andreas Apostolopoulos, purchased the Silverdome in Pontiac, Michigan, in 2009. The stadium hosted the Detroit Lions NFL team from 1975 to 2001.

The Commanders currently play their home games in Landover, Maryland at FedExField with a stadium capacity of 67,617. Currently owned by Dan and Tanya Snyder, Forbes values the Washington Commanders at $5.6B.

According to Canadian Business, the Apostolopoulos Family had a net worth of $3.9B as of 2017.
