A brand new park and community centre are coming to Mississauga, with an expected completion date of late 2020 or early 2021. The $50 million dollar project will be located at 5320 Ninth Line, between Highway 407, Sixteen Mile Creek and the Churchill Meadows community.
The development will see an all-seasons sporks park, outdoor amenities, natural areas and the upcoming Churchill Meadows Community Centre. Inside the centre, there will be a "triple gymnasium, indoor pool, warm water therapeutic tank, multi-purpose spaces, a teaching kitchen and change rooms," according to Insauga.com.

On Mondays, city staff gathered in a committee room to discuss the city's proposed 2020 Budget, which included plans for this project. In addition to the development, attendees learned that there may be a 3.84 per cent increase on the 2020 residential property tax bill. Overall, Mississauga has a $926.1 million operating budget for the year to come, including increased MiWay service hours.
This project aims to be an exciting addition to a growing neighbourhood, bringing in new opportunities for work and play. From year-round recreational activities to neighbourhood amenities, locals will benefit significantly.
As a major development, this project could bring increased real estate opportunities to the area. Mississauga is currently one of the hottest housing markets in the GTA according to a recent Toronto Real Estate Board report. In addition to having a shortage of housing, Mississauga currently also has the fourth highest rental rate nationally for a one-bedroom apartment.
It's estimated that up to 50 new condo buildings will be build in Mississauga over the next 10 years.
