Michael Ferreira, Founder of Urban Analytics, Joins Anthem Properties

On Wednesday, Vancouver-based developer Anthem Properties Group announced that Founder and former co-owner of Zonda Urban Michael Ferreira has joined its senior ranks.

Ferreira took on his new position as Senior Vice President on the Finance and Corporate Affairs team on December 5, 2022, and will play a significant role in liaising with financial partners, assisting in capital formation, and working with the development side towards project approvals as well as market analytics, Anthem says.

Michael Ferreira founded and ran the Western Canada-based real estate analytics firm Urban Analytics from 1995 to 2005. He then took a break between 2005 and 2008, which included stints as the Director of Sales and Product Development at Solterra Development and the Director of Research and Product Development at Townline Homes.

In 2009-2010, Ferreira returned and relaunched Urban Analytics, developing an online data platform with a focus on new multi-family projects in Metro Vancouver. The company then expanded into Alberta, before later expanding all the way to Ontario.

Urban Analytics became a platform used by industry stakeholders, developers, and various levels of government for its insights on market conditions and trends, as well as individual projects. Ferreira sold the company in 2021, before it was renamed Zonda Urban.

"I had been doing what I was doing at Urban Analytics for a long time," Ferreira told the Vancouver Real Estate Podcast in February. "It felt like time for a change. It's great to leave the company in good hands. Anthem gave me an opportunity to learn more about the financial side of the business."

Ferreira joins a leadership team at Anthem that has had a void since Executive Vice President Kevin Falcon left the company a year ago to return to politics, becoming the Leader of BC Liberal Party, the Official Opposition to Premier David Eby's NDPs.

In his 30+ years in the real estate industry, Ferreira has been a strong advocate for the development sector and has also been a sought-after speaker at various industry events.

"We are delighted to have a person of Michael's caliber join our senior leadership team, which also helps to fill the void left by Kevin Falcon's departure in returning to provincial politics," said Anthem CEO Eric Carlson in a press release on Wednesday. "Michael's knowledge, work ethic, and personal values, fit succinctly with our organization and we anticipate a high level of energy, engagement and results stemming from his involvement."
