If you love visiting and shopping at Toronto’s historic St. Lawrence Market and want more, mark Wednesday, Oct. 2 on your calendar.

That’s when there will be a City-sponsored public consultation, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the Temporary North Market to review and discuss the popular south Market’s hours (and days) of operation, "with the objective of optimizing the hours to better support the Toronto and Market community."

The market is currently open only five days a week (closed Sundays and Mondays). That leaves people working weekdays and Saturdays very little time to visit and shop. The hours of operation now at the Front St. building are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Tuesday to Thursday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday. On Saturdays, it opens from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m.

In The South Market, there are currently upwards of more than 120 vendors, many of whom have been there for decades and are familiar faces to market shoppers.

If you’re a Sunday shopper, here’s the chance to have your say.
