This week marked a number of leadership changes at Oxford Properties, including the appointment of Chad Remis to the newly-created role of Chief Investment Officer (CIO).
Remis is backed by a 10-year career and “progressively senior roles” with Oxford. In his previous role of Executive Vice President of North America, he oversaw several “record-setting dispositions,” including the sale of Royal Bank Plaza in Toronto, St John’s Terminal in New York, and One Memorial in Boston, according to a press release from Tuesday.
The release also speaks to the choice to create the new CIO role, saying that it “marks an important part in the evolution of Oxford Properties.”
Daniel Fournier, who took over as Executive Chair at Oxford in February, adds that the new COI post will allow the company to take a “global view” of its investments and portfolio.
“This will ensure we find and execute upon the best opportunities across the globe to deliver the best overall return for OMERS and our capital partners,” says Fournier. “Chad is the perfect candidate for the role. He is one of the very best real estate investors in the business, is highly respected within our organization and industry, and has led our North American team with distinction for the past six years.
“In this new role, we will utilize Chad’s strengths and expertise across a global mandate to lead a team that harnesses the collective power of all our investment professionals, irrespective of their location. As our business continues to increase in scale, reach, and complexity, this evolved structure will set us up for our next decade of growth.”
As well, Liz Murphy, former Senior Vice President of Finance at Oxford, will move into the role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO). She will succeed Allison Wolfe, who has chosen to leave the organization in mid-September.
Murphy will additionally join Oxford’s Executive Committee, alongside current members Daniel Fournier, Chad Remis, Alysha Valenti (Chief Legal Officer), Joanne McNamara (EVP Europe), and Rob Ecclestone (Head of Human Resources).
Alessandro Fiascaris (Head of Asia Pacific) Claire McIntyre (Head of Corporate and Public Affairs), Nu Suwankosai, (Head of Global Credit), Randy Hoffman, (EVP North American Investments), and Tyler Seaman (EVP Canada) have also been nominated to join the Executive Committee.
