As Muskoka moves into Stage 3 of the Province’s COVID-19 reopening plan, cottagers may not yet feel completely comfortable visiting a local yoga or fitness studio.

[adrotate banner="48"]At the same time, after months of COVID-19 upending our lives, a yoga fix seems more essential than ever from a personal wellbeing standpoint.

The good news for the yoga craving cottagers is that a handful of local yoga companies will bring the yoga experience to you and your guests, from the socially distanced comfort of your cottage dock or lake.

Active Turtle

Mobilize your cottage guests to partake in a breezy yoga session on the dock with a private class from Muskoka staple Active Turtle. The company will bring a dynamic yoga class to your Muskoka or Georgian Bay cottage, accommodating ‘bubbles,’ as consistent with current COVID-19 size restrictions. A one-hour class is typically $150, depending on location. As another safe and socially distanced option, Active Turtle is also hosting yoga classes on the Rosseau Wharf each Thursday at 8:30 am through August 27 for groups of nine socially distanced participants.

Go beyond the typical yoga session and add a paddleboard to the equation, thanks to Suptopia, Muskoka’s travelling SUP yoga studio. The company invites participants to swap the yoga gear for a swimsuit and challenge their balance skills by taking the yoga class to the water on an aptly sanitized paddleboard. Now in its seventh summer, Suptopia offers a whole new perspective to your yoga practice, as you’re literally surrounded by nature and connecting to the elements. The lingering summer heat wave makes this refreshing option even more enticing. For the "like"-seeking set, so does the fact that the instructors happily snap photos of the experience.

Zen Muskoka

Zen Muskoka can also bring the yoga studio to your cottage for a session for your ‘bubble’ to enjoy on the dock or in the backyard. The company’s team of yoga professionals is available for individual and small group yoga practices. The only differences in their dockside practice compared to summers past are fewer people and more space between the mats – two things that lend themselves to a quality individual yoga experience. The inclusive experience is suitable for all yoga levels – the twenty-something seasoned yogi, to your newbie mother-in-law.
