THE INSIGHTS

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Richmond Hill but spent the majority of my childhood riding horses on farms in King Township.

What neighbourhood do you live in now?

I currently live in Aurora.

What made you want to become a real estate agent?

It happened organically. I was riding with a friend one day when she mentioned that her brokerage needed someone to start at the front desk of their real estate office. A week later I was at the desk and the rest is history.

What’s the biggest challenge you see facing the market today?

There is a lot of fear and uncertainty in the eyes of consumers right now. It will be important for us as professionals to educate, guide and empower our clients to sift through the headlines and evaluate what is best for them in their specific market.

What’s the single best advice you have for sellers?

Pricing is paramount. The current market is extremely price sensitive and pricing a property aggressively usually ends in an overall lower sales price.

What’s the single best advice you have for buyers?

It's about time in the market and not timing the market. 10 years from now, what you purchase today will seem like amazing value.

What’s the best thing a realtor can invest in for their brand (a bus bench ad, a solid Instagram strategy, etc.)?

Anything that can add value for your clients. Over the past few years we have put significant resources into our website, social media and branding. We now have this amazing tool through social media that helps our clients get their properties in front of a captive audience. Our socials are unique to us and very much appreciated by our clients.

Who do you look up to in the industry and why?

I look up to anyone who has survived and thrived in different markets over time. This can be a rewarding but also tough industry at times and there is a lot to be learned from true life-long professionals.

Is there anything you wish people knew or understood about realtors that you think they’re constantly getting wrong?

There are a lot of exceptional professionals out there who constantly strive to serve their clients the best that they can.

Tell us about your favourite (or most memorable) sale.

There are many memorable sales but one of my favourites was a country property I had listed just outside Creemore. It was an amazing contemporary home with an exceptional view and was one of the biggest sales for the area at the time (there have been many more since then). The buyers ended up becoming great friends over the years.

What are the three words you hope your clients use to describe you?

Reliable. Trustworthy. Skilled.

What’s your favourite thing to do outside of selling houses?

Riding horses and spending time with my dogs.
