LiUNA Pension Fund of Central and Eastern Canada and Fengate Asset Management have officially broken ground on Church & Main, a new purpose-built rental development in Brampton’s downtown core.

The project, located at the intersection of Church Street and Main Street, will deliver a 35-storey, 400-unit residential tower developed by LPFCEC in partnership with Fengate and The Hi-Rise Group.

The building will offer a mix of studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom units, and is positioned to serve a range of renters, including families, students, and young professionals.

Church & Main is situated across from the Brampton Innovation District GO station and adjacent to local bus routes, aligning with broader efforts to increase housing density near transit infrastructure. Amenities planned for the development include co-working and social spaces, fitness and wellness facilities, indoor and outdoor community areas, and other shared-use spaces.

The project is targeting LEED Gold certification, reflecting a focus on sustainability and energy efficiency.

Construction follows the recent completion of Manett Urban – Rentals on the Park, another Brampton rental project by LiUNA and Fengate that reached approximately 90% occupancy earlier this year.

Brampton is among Canada’s fastest-growing large cities, with population growth projections of more than 40% by 2051. Rising homeownership costs and limited new supply have contributed to sustained demand for purpose-built rental housing in the city.

Church & Main is expected to welcome its first residents in 2029.
