On Tuesday, at its annual general meeting, the British Columbia Real Estate Association (BCREA) elected Victoria Realtor Darren Close as its 2023-2024 Chair of the Board of Directors.
Prior to joining the BCREA Board of Directors in 2020, Close served as the director of the former Kootenay Association of Realtors for seven years, which has since been folded into the Association of Interior Realtors, and also served as the President and Finance Chair.
Close is currently the Managing Broker of RE/MAX Generation on Vancouver Island, after previously serving as the Managing Broker at Royal LePage East Kootenay Realty for over 15 years.
"I am humbled and excited to have been selected by our peers to transition into the role of Chair for our provincial association," says Close, who has been a licensed realtor since 2004.
"I look forward to continuing to foster our relationships, finding more opportunities for success, and assuring presence and accountability for all of our members," he added. "As a champion for the real estate sector in British Columbia, BCREA has made great strides in many areas. And each day we grow stronger working together to meet the demands of our profession."
Joining Darren Close as the Officers of the Association are Tim Ayres of Royal LePage Coast Capital, past-Chair Janice Stromar of Royal LePage Nanaimo Realty, and BCREA CEO Trevor Koot.
