The Hudson's Bay Company has officially announced the 25 locations across Canada where it will open brick-and-mortar Zellers stores.
The retail giant's plans, announced on Wednesday, include Zellers locations in BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Quebec, Ontario, and Nova Scotia, with each store spanning between 8,000 and 10,000 sq. ft. Once open, in-store customers can once again expect to see wide assortment of items, including toys, clothing, home decor, and much more.
The Hudson's Bay Company acquired Zellers in 1978, but most locations were shuttered by 2013 due to dwindling profits, with Zellers subleasing a majority of their locations to US-based Target. (That did not go well, either.)
With its grand return, Zellers will also be launching an e-commerce website, bringing the store to nearly every community across Canada. Zellers also noted that the 25 announced store locations are just to start, with future locations likely dependent on the success of this first wave of stores.

In a press release put out in August, teasing Wednesday's announcement, the Bay said "Zellers and Zellers.ca will deliver a digital-first shopping journey that taps into the nostalgia of the brand Canadians know and love, while introducing a refreshed identity and a unique and exciting product assortment for families at everyday value."
"We know how special Zellers is in the hearts and minds of people in Canada," added Chief Business Officer Adam Powell. "'Where the lowest price is the law' was a calling card, which has helped Zellers establish itself as more than a retail destination, but a place to build and support community."
Opening dates for the stores have not yet been announced, but the Bay did note that the brick-and-mortar stores and e-commerce experience will launch simultaneously. There's been no word yet on whether the beloved Zellers restaurants would also be returning, but there's one thing that will definitely be coming back: nostalgia.
