Transit riders may disagree but, according to a new survey, Toronto is the best Canadian city for public transit in 2019 because of the TTC.
According to online real estate brokerage Redfin, Toronto beat out all other Canadian cities with a transit score of 78. Like their Walk Score, Redfin's Transit Score ranks locations based on how convenient it is to walk or in this case commute to and from the area. The Transit Score also takes into account the frequency of transportation in the area.

Following Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal came in second and third in the populations over 300,000 category with Transit Scores of 74 and 67, respectively.
On a North American scale, Toronto even beat out a few American cities like Boston (72), Washington, D.C., (71) and Philadelphia (67).

Blair Anderson, broker of record and market manager for Redfin in Toronto, says Torontonians need to give the city's transit system a lot more credit than it currently gets.
“Significant growth requires major transit infrastructure, and the city has recognized that and is investing in transit. The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) operates in the city, and plans to expand the light rail and subway service. GO train, our commuter rail system, is also undergoing a significant expansion, to make it even more accessible to those living farther out,” he said.

“Some people moan and complain about public transit, but Toronto’s system is one of the better transit systems in the world. It’s highly ranked, runs well on a timely basis, and doesn’t have many problems. And without it, the city would shut down,” Anderson added.
