THE INSIGHTS

Where did you grow up?

My formative years were in Markham when it was a wee village.

Where do you live now?

North Riverdale near Withrow Park.

And what neighbourhood (in Canada, or worldwide) would you love to live in (that isn’t your own)?

I love Ronci and the Annex. But my family seems to be settling in Victoria. Sweet town!

How did you end up becoming a real estate agent?

It was a confluence of skills from past lives as an entrepreneur, restauranteur, marketing mogul, and real estate ‘developer.’

In a few sentences, describe what a typical “day in the life” looks like for you.

I’m a busy beaver. I’m watching the market and pouncing on opportunities for buyers; I’m prepping and primping properties and I’m trying to spend a little time with my very patient and understanding family.

Does this align with what you expected before you became an agent?

My mom started real estate at the age I did (45) and I knew what I was in for.

What’s the single best advice you have for sellers?

Don’t take it personally. The flooring that carries with it the memories of your long lost doggie, just needs to be repaired now.

What’s the single best advice you have for buyers?

Be prepared. Be practiced. Be informed and empowered.

What made you choose to work for your current brokerage?

Integrity. They guide and train full-time professional agents that lead the industry.

Who do you believe is making the biggest waves in the industry today?

AI in its various forms will impact in creative, visuals, admin and all aspects of our industry over time.

Is there anyone you recommend people should be paying attention to right now?

I like to pay attention to the Deputy Chief Economist of CIBC, Benjamin Tal, and Scotiabank’s Jean-François Perrault for various economic influences. Yawn, I know.

What is one professional goal you have for the next year?

I’ve finally brought an old friend and organizational wiz on board to help me manage my past clients, so I can keep them informed on market activity and share tales from the front lines.

What’s one that you have for the next 10 years?

I’d like to innovate and adapt my services to meet the changes in the industry and my own legacy planning.

Tell us about your favourite (or most memorable) sale, and why it stands out to you.

Although not in my wheelhouse at all, Bridgehouse was a challenging sale in a tough market of a lakeside Muskoka wonder. I had garnered the trust of these clients over the years and they felt I was the only one that understood the house. After many months I was able to find the most spectacular buyers and new relationships were forged and the marvellous home begins again.

What are the three words you hope your clients use to describe you?

Tireless, ingenious, amusing.
