THE INSIGHTS

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Northern Ontario and moved to Toronto in 2001.

Where do you live now, and what neighbourhood (in Canada, or worldwide) would you love to live in (that isn’t your own)?

I have lived in mid-Toronto and the downtown waterfront area, and ended up settling down and raising my family in West Toronto for the past 19 years.

[In terms of the neighbourhood I'd love to live,] I’m in it now. I love where I live!

How did you end up becoming a real estate agent?

After 12 years in capital markets, and with young children at home, I wanted something more flexible and in a client-facing capacity. Also, I have a serious fondness for architecture and design, so after carefully considering my next career path, real estate made the most sense.

In a few sentences, describe what a typical “day in the life” looks like for you. Does this align with what you expected before you became an agent?

There is no such thing as a ‘typical’ day in real estate. We wear so many hats and each day can look very different. Staying current with market activity and being diligent with planning is essential, and you go when the client calls, which could mean 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

Initially, I thought I could do real estate part-time, yet learned very quickly that in order to service your clients well, this was not the case.

What’s the single best advice you have for sellers?

The best advice I have for sellers is to not let go of a good offer in anticipation of a better offer.

What’s the single best advice you have for buyers?

The best advice I have for buyers is to be educated on the market area in advance of offering on a property. Work with an agent who is knowledgeable about the neighbourhood and ensure they are proactive and responsive with your search.

What made you choose to work for your current brokerage?

It was a well-established Canadian company and veteran brokerage, locally located in The Kingsway. After the first meeting with my broker, I felt inspired and knew they would add tremendous value and provide excellent support in advancing my career. I felt that Sutton empowered their agents to deliver value and intelligent decision-making for the homeowners.

Who do you believe is making the biggest waves in the industry today? Is there anyone you recommend people should be paying attention to right now?

Some incredible women in my community have built great businesses and have been highly productive over the long term; they inspire me tremendously, and although we are competitors on some level, I believe we cheer each other on from the sidelines.

What is one professional goal you have for the next year? What’s one that you have for the next 10 years?

My next professional goal is to complete my broker’s license and continue to educate myself. I plan to grow my business, yet continue to service my clients in the bespoke manner I currently provide.

Tell us about your favourite (or most memorable) sale, and why it stands out to you.

The elation of my first sale of $3,200,000 is still fresh in my mind. My clients put their trust in me and we prevailed.

What are the three words you hope your clients use to describe you?

Knowledgeable. Trustworthy. Dedicated.
