The most successful companies know their customers inside and out.
In fact, they're often led by people who have spent time in their clients’ shoes – just like Planpoint’s co-founder, Laurent Cardinal, who’s been working in real estate for over a decade.
Throughout his career, Cardinal grew increasingly fed up with the antiquated way that developers were maintaining their websites.
“[I worked at companies where the] website ... just had PDF plans of units, which went straight onto a webpage," says Cardinal. "Just the PDF plans."
In short, this practice left buyers with (very) little information to orient themselves with, within the larger context of a given development.
“And then if [the units] were sold, you needed to go and manually update the webpage. I would receive calls from the developer asking, ‘Hey, this unit was sold two weeks ago. Why is it not updated?’ I needed a solution to help me cope.”

So Cardinal, in partnership with co-founder Félix Cotte, created Planpoint, an interactive floor plan viewing platform that helps real estate developers modernize their marketing efforts.

The platform caters to clients across a range of real estate realms – from new condo developments to rentals to commercial properties, and even single-family development projects.
This means that regardless of the type of property someone’s selling, renting, or managing, Planpoint’s platform creates a more seamless shopping experience for customers.

So, how does it work?
Let’s say you’re a developer launching a new condo building. With the help of Planpoint, you can display an interactive map on your website that gives customers a high-level view of the entire building.
From there, potential homebuyers can narrow their search in two ways: by navigating the table beside the rendering —where they can filter their search based on preferences like the number of bedrooms, the unit price, and square footage — or by clicking on a specific level directly on the image, which takes them to that level’s floor plan.
Once the customer is on a specific level, they can click into a particular unit to see its layout and additional details, or to request more information.

But, for commercial property websites — because the end-user has different needs than someone looking for a new condo — things look different. Cardinal explains that commercial properties are typically leased by commercial brokers looking for a storefront for one of their clients.
“In this sector, it’s really important [for brokers] to know who the other tenants will be,” says Cardinal, “which is why for the commercial category, Planpoint allows you to display the brands of other tenants, [which are shown] in a table beside the interactive map.”

Customers can click into each space to see the floor plan, price, and square footage, or even take a 3D visit.
Planpoint’s other real estate categories include rental, land, and single-family home projects, which have similarly tailored features. For instance, single-family projects can be presented on a map, since this type of community is often built in suburban areas that might not be instantly recognizable.
“For single-family projects, you want to help the person figure out where the community is located in the grand scheme of things,” explains Cardinal, “so the project is embedded in a map … which is customizable – you can change the styling to whatever you want.”
With a slew of features and integrations tailored to a variety of real estate realms, Cardinal says that Planpoint will continue to innovate, update its software, and expand its offering.
“Planpoint’s philosophy is we are always reinvesting in research and development for the platform, to create new features and to push what's possible further. Some of the biggest examples are the launch of immersive 3D, 360 Enterprise, advanced analytics, and the iOS, Android and Windows App.”
In short, Planpoint is modernizing the real estate industry, by helping developers transform their old-school floor plans into interactive maps that help renters and buyers explore properties or buildings in an integrated, visual way. Already, the platform supports many of Quebec and Eastern Canada's largest developers.
Real estate admin doesn’t have to be time-consuming, and your customers deserve a frictionless shopping experience. Check out Planpoint’s website for more information on how the platform can benefit your customers and sales team.
