And in case you haven’t heard, Toronto bars and restaurants can now start serving booze as early as 9 a.m. That means during those hot summer days in the city, you can kick off your mornings with an iced cold boozy beverage.

With that in mind, here are 10 of Toronto’s best patios to get your drink on.

1. Gusto 101 — 101 Portland St.

Why it’s the best: There’s double the opportunity to enjoy some drinks and good food on a patio at Gusto. That’s because the restaurant has two: one at street level and one on the rooftop. The latter has a retractable glass ceiling for gorgeous summer days (and nights). Gusto promises a lively atmosphere you won’t want to miss.

2. Murphy’s Law Pub & Kitchen — 1702 Queen St. E.

Why it’s the best: Where else in the city can you find a view like this? Take it all in while sipping on a cocktail or one of the 24 craft beers offered by the pub. They also have a daily $5 pour and a great selection of classic pub food. Need we say more?

3. Baro — 485 King St. W.

Why it’s the best: If you’re looking for a patio backdrop to get that perfect Insta-worthy summer shot, this is it. Baro has the trendiest decor, from its exposed brick bar to added greenery. Although this patio looks like its indoors, don’t be fooled! It’s roof is retractable and heated to account for all kinds of crazy Toronto weather.

4. The Rec Room Roundhouse — 255 Bremner Blvd.

Why it’s the best: The Rec Room Roundhouse is perfect for those who get bored easily. Here, you can alternate between enjoying some food and drink on the patio and playing outdoor games like ping pong or cornhole. Plus, the icing on the cake is that this patio has some of the best-unobstructed views of the city. You’ll have to check it out to see for yourself!

5. Joe Bird — 207 Queens Quay

Why it’s the best: Want a patio with cheap drink deals? Joe Bird is it. This eclectic joint has happy hour on Monday to Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. where they offer $5 mixed drinks, $6 pints, and half-price wine bottles. Joe Bird is also known for its chicken and hangover brunch, so definitely try some eats while you’re there.

6. El Catrin — 18 Tank House Lane

Why it’s the best: A day out in the Distillery District is not uncommon during the summer. Stop by El Catrin while you’re at it to enjoy Mexican cuisine and some sunshine on their patio. The bonus is that this spot makes for a romantic setting under the stars if your patio date goes well into the evening.

7. Bandit Brewery — 2125 Dundas St. W.

Why it’s the best: If you’re a fan of local brews, grab some friends and head over to this micro-brewery in the heart of Roncesvalles. Their large patio makes it a lively spot where you can try 13 different beers. They range from a classic Cloud IPA to more unique flavours like Wizard of Gose (sour with fruit and sea salt).

8. Bar Reyna — 158 Cumberland St.

Why it’s the best: You know you’ve hit peak summer when all you want is to enjoy brunch on a patio. If that’s what you’re craving, then head to Bar Reyna to get your fix. Their patio is open all year round and they serve some delicious Mediterranean dishes in a stunning space.

9. The Citizen — 522 King St. W.

Why it’s the best: If you want to soak in some vitamin D, head to The Citizen. There are no tall buildings blocking the sun’s rays at this patio, but the resto-bar does have a good number of umbrellas for shade just in case you need it. This spot is also ideal if you’re planning on having dinner and early drinks before a night on the town.

10. Assembly Chef’s Hall — 111 Richmond St. W.

The Hall also has two patios that span 4,000 sq. ft., which means there’s plenty of space and opportunity to kick back with a drink and some good pals here this summer.
