Anyone who knows Toronto knows The Danforth is one of the city's most beloved neighbourhoods. And now, thanks to real estate website REW.ca, we also know the area is a hotspot for potential homebuyers.

According to REW, Greektown topped the 2018 list for two reasons: accessibility and proximity to the downtown core.

“Transit and being in the urban hub is very appealing and the Danforth and around the Danforth is demonstrating that with probably half those areas (in the top 10 most searched list) all around the area,” Ian Martin, REW's director of industry development and partnerships told The Toronto Sun.

In 2017, Humber Heights was named the city's most popular neighbourhood for homebuyers, based on pageviews per listing.

Like Humber Heights, The Danforth has plenty of single-family homes both detached and semis. What separates the two neighbourhoods is The Danforth's close proximity to incredible dining, shopping and leisure areas.

Newtonbrook East, located near Finch and Yonge St., is the city's most improved neighbourhood with a 153 per cent growth in home values. Newtonbrook East is a very multicultural area with a heavy Chinese, Korean, Russian, Jewish and Iranian population.

REW's study also revealed Toronto buyers were most interested in three-bedroom homes. And that they were willing to pay between $1.25 to $1.5 million for a three-bedroom home.

The median list price for detached homes rose 10 per cent in 2018, bringing the average to $1.1 million. The average list price for condos also rose in 2018 to $545,000 (9 per cent).

Following The Danforth, Trinity Bellwoods was the second most searched Toronto neighbourhood in 2018.
